A Questrom Honors Program student, with an excellent GPA of 3.72, Jose is pursuing concentrations in Finance and Real Estate as well as a minor in Computer Science. I know he is a leader in the classroom, but what I’m especially aware of is his impact outside the classroom.Jose is the President of our LOCK Honorary Service Society, the oldest student-run organization at Questrom. LOCK was founded on the belief that those who have the privilege of scholarship must share what they have gained. Under Jose’s careful leadership, they excel at this the team of 70+ students provides free tutoring for Questrom courses and other community service initiatives at BU and in the local community.I recently also got to see Jose in action as Vice President of Investment Management for the Finance Investment Club. A team of ten members, including Jose, visited New York City alumni to present their work and get feedback. The alums were very active, and at times very tough in thei r questions. While other members handled themselves under the strain, Jose was the most vocal, assured, and passionate, and he calmed his team members, impressed the alums, and helped to make the event a great success.   This shows one of Jose’s greatest gifts – he has a calming and confidence-building effect on others.Jose also enjoys serving as a Teaching Assistant for our QM222, Business Statistics course. In the past, he also served as a TA for MA121, Calculus. Jose is a wonderful teacher and active and intuitive tutor. He has an easy way about him that develops quick rapport. This is also shown in how Jose also connects effectively with faculty. He served as a Research Assistant to Professor Fernando Suarez in our Strategy and Innovation Department.Jose is an earnest and giving young man who gives his all to his work. He indicated in his information above that his professional plan is to be able to financially help under-developed areas grow. From what I’ ve seen, Jose is going to make that happen.†Erik Wm.
